Message from our president - Myra Waldrop

President's Message

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and is ready for 2026 with our new officers:

Myra Waldrop, President

Amy Hailey, Vice President

Bill Bowman, Tressure

Terri Bailey, Secretary,

Doug Forsythe, Parliamentarian

Monday, January 12 will be our first neighborhood meeting of 2026 at the Eastside Montessori School’s Gymnasium at 7 PM.

I want to thank Charles Edmonds for his work on behalf of the neighborhood over the last 4 years.  We have talked with Fort Worth Parks Department representatives about possible updates to the playground at Smith-Wilemon Park and an evaluation for part of the  park to be used for a Pickleball court.  I will continue to work with the Parks Department on both projects.

There will a zoning change that would change from C multifamily to light industrial coming to the Fort Worth City Council in February for a vote and it would allow Wallace Hall, Jr. to establish a concrete crushing business at 5850 Elliott Reeder Road which is just east of the Performance warehouses.  This zoning would allow the property to subsequently be used to build another large-scale warehouse.  This zoning change is not appropriate in a mostly residential and recreational area.  We can send letters in opposition to this zone change to our Major and City Councilwomen and then turn out for the zoning meeting.  More information will be presented at our meeting on Monday, January 12.

See you all soon,

Myra Waldrop

President WLHNA
